What is a "Mandatory Compliance" safety shoe work area?
An area that has been designated as requiring the use of safety shoes based on a risk assessment performed by local SHEA, in accordance with OSHA standards.

What is a "Company Directed" safety shoe work area?
The immediate supervisor of the requesting employee is approving/authorizing that employee to go above and beyond any defined safety standard.  The supervisor concurs that the employee desires to improve their personal foot safety, therefore authorizing the employee to pursue reimbursement for the purchase of approved safety shoes.  This does not imply that safety shoes are required for the area or this employee.  If you have any questions, please contact your local Safety office or HSI.

Approved safety shoes include:
* Composite toe
* Steel toe
* Non-slip/slip resistant soles
* Chemical resistant
* Non-skid soles
* Anti-static/static dissipative
