Per Letter of Understanding #34 in our contract, members on the active payroll on September 1, 2006 will receive the $3,000 lump sum payment (less applicable taxes) on the November 22nd paycheck. The contract called for the payment to be made by December 1, 2006. This $3,000 lump sum payment is a negotiated item in the 2005 contract - showing it pays to be Union.

September 2005 Labor Day pay grievance    Arbitratoršs Labor Day Decision
The arbitratoršs decision came in today on the Labor Day 2005 case.
Unfortunately, the arbitrator ruled in favor of the Company citing the following two reasons:      1) Strikers were not on the active payroll and therefore not entitled to holiday pay;              2) There was no collective bargaining agreement in existence at the time of the Labor Day holiday.
Although the arbitrator has a right to his opinion, our negotiating team firmly believed the understanding in Washington DC was that those individuals out on strike would be paid for Labor Day 2005 as part of the overall compensation package. The Union exhausted every avenue available to enforce that provision of the contract. Per Article 19 of our contract, the arbitrator's decision is final and binding, and there is no right to appeal.

Arbiter being selected for grievance on 8% ratification bonus for workers on leave of absence                   A grievance has been filed against the Boeing Company by District 751 for the Puget Sound, Portland, and Wichita locations in regards to employees on leave of absence not receiving the 8 percent ratification bonus for the current contract. Arbitration has been set to hear the case in September .
